Two special April screenings

We have two really exciting screenings coming up this month and it’s particularly poignant and significant, as Varoujan’s birthday is on 20 April, and 24 April is the day commemorated at the beginning of the Genocide and the day Varoujan was arrested.

We will be in Istanbul, in his city, for our favourite poet’s birthday, where we are screening with Hrant Dink Foundation, as a part of their Memories of Varoujan: One Film, One Book event. It’s an exciting evening of screening Taniel, poetry and letter reading session with actors Yegya Akgun and Lara Narin and panel discussion with the creators of the film. The same evening, the Turkish translation of Varoujan’s The Song of the Bread will be launched.

One of Birmingham’s most exciting art spaces, Centrala will host us for another screening on 24 April. It’ll be shown at a special edition of the Wednesday Canvass series on Armenia, with a special double bill screening of two short films: Taniel and Naré Mkrtchyan’s ‘The Other Side of Home’ followed by a panel discussion
